Christina Lidman

Founding Principal, United Christian Music Kindergarten

Dr Christina Lidman is an experienced early childhood educator, and has worked across countries and continents. She is a strong advocate for holistic education. Dr Lidman has been involved in international schools for 25 years, and has worked in Montessori schools, IB schools and IPC schools worldwide.

She has a Scandinavian background and has been working in Hong Kong since 2000 as a teacher, curriculum developer, deputy principal and principal of several kindergartens. Dr Lidman is currently the Founding Principal of United Christian Music Kindergarten (UCM), a purpose-built preschool in TKO that is guided by Christian values, infused by Music and Montessori, with a focus on STEAM and supported by the UK International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC). The school believes that music is an international language that breaks down human barriers and connect us all.

In addition to being a school principal, she has been a university lecturer and conducts IB, IPC, Montessori and leadership teacher training. She speaks multiple languages and frequently offers inspirational lectures in developing countries about the significance of educating the whole child, creating an awareness for ‘holistic education without borders’.

Dr Lidman is also the mother of three ‘third culture kids’ who all grew up in Hong Kong and attended bilingual international schools. Her interest and continuous search for the latest research based ECE practices resulted in a doctoral degree in educational leadership and management with a focus on life and values education. Her contribution to the academic world is a comprehensive framework for holistic education. She firmly believes that all children deserve the best possible start in life since early childhood is not a rehearsal.

About UCM: UCM aims at nurturing young learners by offering a solid academic foundation in combination with character education, permeated by resilience and respect to become tomorrow’s global citizen and future leader.
