Karin Ann

Co-Founder and Principal, The International Montessori School of Hong Kong

Karin Ann is co-founder and principal of the International Montessori School (IMS). She is a native of Hong Kong  and grew up in a bilingual Eurasian family with a strong educational bent: her grandfather wrote a series of books about learning Chinese characters. As a result, Ms Ann had an interest in education from an early age. In 2001 she and Anne Sawyer co-founded IMS, and began introducing children to the Chinese language using the multisensory Montessori approach to learning. IMS is now considered one of the world’s leading Montessori bilingual programmes for kindergarten and primary children. Prior to establishing IMS, Ms Ann worked for Deutsche Bank, where she was in charge of risk management and capital financing for companies in the Greater China region. She was also a management consultant for Bain and Company in San Francisco and Hong Kong. She holds Bachelor and Master’s Degrees in Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University. A TEDx speaker, she has also been awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year award by the American Chamber of Commerce in 2015, and the Jessica Most Successful Women Award in 2017.
