Kate McAlister is the current Western co-principal at Yew Chung International School (YCIS) – Early Childhood Education in Hong Kong. During her time with YCIS she has developed professional development for teachers, fostered a play-based curriculum and created respectful platforms for families and caregivers.
Ms McAlister is passionate about connecting early childhood research to practice. The wellbeing of children, families, caregivers and teachers is at the heart of her work. She holds a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education and has been in the field for over 14 years. She started her career in California, where she was born and raised.
She has been engaged in many different forms of professional development, including Making Thinking Visible, PITC (Program for Infant Toddler Care), Adaptive Schools, Cognitive Coaching, Mindful Schools and MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction).
