Richard Vanderpyl

Head of School, Christian Alliance International School, Hong Kong

Richard Vanderpyl has been in the role as Head of Christian Alliance International School

since 2019. He has been involved in education for more than 34 years, all in New Zealand

where he served as principal of Middleton Grange School in Christchurch. Richard has a

Master of Education (Administration) with First Class Honours and was awarded a Winston

Churchill Fellowship to research high performing schools in the USA. In 2016 he was

awarded a New Zealand Government Scholarship to research high performing schools in

England and Wales.

Richard has been Chair of the New Zealand Association for Christian Schools and has led a

number of National Christian Teachers and Leaders Conference in New Zealand. In 2015

Middleton Grange School was awarded a five-year performance review by the New Zealand

Education Review Office placing it in the top 10-15% of schools in New Zealand.

Richard is passionate about student character development and training hearts and minds to

become the future influences in society.
